It has its downsides. Not having an actual voice is sort of a pain in the ass.

... Yeah, kind of. Usually I have to concentrate to pick up on anything, but they were being way too loud. It's why I listen to music a lot of the time.

...that's not a bad idea. Pretty sure I'd just end up too distracted, though, it's hard enough to listen to anything else as it is.

Ought to petition for dorms somewhere else, or something. It gets this way around finals too.

You can turn it down if you need to, or turn it off. It helps me but it's not my primary... thing.

That's not a bad idea, though. Maybe a more isolated area where people with those kinds of powers can crash. But finals... you've been here a while? I'm... still new.

Just a year. So I guess I'm still kind of new?... I mean, I think I've got a pretty good idea of what goes on, but I also kind of spent a while when I first got here focusing on my mutation.

[He shrugs one shoulder in an almost lazy little gesture.]

Still, uh, adjusting a little as far as social stuff goes.

Yeah. I... just got here. Thought I wasn't gonna get to finish high school, since I... kept throwing things at people who picked on me.

[A pillow floats off the couch and slams into the wall at high speed as Neku flicks his hand. It's a muffled thump, but had it been something other than a pillow there might be a dent.]

[He starts slightly when the pillow flings itself at the wall, but just for a moment. It's a reflex, not actual worry or fear, and Ryan flashes him a small smile soon as he recovers.]

...bet it made them think twice about it though, yeah? Not gonna lie, I sort of wish I'd gotten something like that.

Sort of, but then tougher people started coming after me, and not always in school, and...

Pretty much. My parents just saw it as another thing I was doing wrong. It's not my fault they were assholes.

I wasn't really reading, anyway. Little too tired for it to stick, I was just trying to put myself to sleep.

I'm just crossing my fingers that they don't feel like handing out detention for falling asleep down here.

Hopefully not. I don't see why they would, but I've never gone to a boarding school before.

Depends on who you run into. Some of the teachers are stricter than others, you know? It's the start of the year, maybe they want to set some boundaries, I don't know.
