[ her head tips to the side and she digs in a pocket to pull out a tissue and uses it to wipe as much of the book off as she can ]

I have straight As. [ yes. she gets test answers. but that's cheating. shhh. she dips her head and looks like she might laugh but is holding it back. all because john said 'shit' and her family never cursed. ]

Sometimes I get things that turn out useful? I never know until it happens.

That'd be pretty hard in a boarding school, wouldn't it? [Just saying.] Just what needs to be avoided.

It's easier than you would think. [ maybe she knows that from actually doing it... ] What needs to be avoided?

Is that just a kid thing? Asking stupid questions forever? [He's starting to remember why he stays away from the younger crowd here. Their very nature is obnoxious.] The kind of trouble that goes past fun and ends in shitloads of boredom until the teachers think I've learned my lesson. It's my favourite kind, but not worth it.

All kids have are questions. If nobody answers our questions, we have to go do something stupid to answer it ourselves.

[ logic. she worried about bothering him now. maybe she should go back... ]

Are you always bored then? [ she should stop asking stupid questions. leave the guy alone, meadow. but she's curious. she's looking off then back at him, debating leaving it at this. she already prevented him from getting bird on him. deed done. she's aware she's probably annoying. she's been told that by her peers. better to keep quiet. ]

Nah. Just means more small kinds of trouble instead of the big ones. Actually keeps me busy.

I didn't realize there were rules to that.

[ it makes her smile thoughtfully. if it's stupid, it could still be good. that's comforting in a way. validates her following the stranger things that pop in her head that everyone calls stupid if she doesn't explain ]
