I'll talk to 'em. I'm still the senior student, even if I've got the rep right now, and I can play it off as trying to change my ways. They see any fire flying right now and we're both going into detention.

[And now he's laughing. This is no friendship - he's thinking of the kid as a recruit, either for himself or for someone more powerful that he knows must be out there - but he'll be fun to have around, at least. Enough attitude to be amusing, not so much that he'll be a problem.]

You don't have to keep your head down for long. Just long enough that it doesn't like we're starting a gang instead of training.
