Name: Ryan Farrow
Canon: Original character
Status: Student, 16
Power: Telepathy with a touch of empathy. Its manifestation was overwhelming enough that he lost his actual voice; he can only 'speak' telepathically, and the ability in general is poorly controlled, leaving him prone to 'thinking out loud' and reading surface thoughts without meaning to (the school can be pretty noisy for him.) He's got enough empathic power to pick up on others' emotions, if not influence them-- strong ones can influence him though. In general his powers are fairly volatile and spongelike- kid needs way more control before they'll be useful.
Bio: A fairly normal, dorky kid, or he was until about 14. Ryan's abilities manifested slightly later than the norm-- and they were impossible to ignore, what with the way he took in the thoughts of people around him and broadcast his own with absolutely no control. Saying his parents weren't pleased is a bit of an understatement: they passed him off to the school's headmaster as soon as they were contacted about a safer place for him, and they're not exactly keen to get their mutant kid back.
He's always been a reader and writer, and that love of words hasn't diminished at all. He still has hopes of getting a degree in English and maybe going into editing, or even succeeding as an author himself; in general he's still got a good amount of naivete about just what being a mutant means for him, and is intent on living as normal a life as possible when he eventually leaves.
Friendly kid, if not always overtly social. Painfully tall and awkwardly gangly, making him hard to miss-- other students may recognize him as the quiet guy who tends to sit at the back of the class.

Canon: X-Men Movieverse
Status: Student, 17
Power: Pyrokinesis - the ability not to create, but to manipulate fire. Also, as per movie novelizations, heat-sense which is described as "mental infra-red" - he is able to detect temperatures in the space around him and determine combustion level, which allows him to ignite things like sparks or embers.
Bio: Brought up in a very young, low-income family, John was the target of mockery and emotional neglect from an early age. Although this made him temperamental and quick to anger, he didn't seem any different from other troubled children until he turned twelve years old, when a traumatic event led to his parents fleeing from the manifestation of his mutation. From twelve to fifteen, he lived on the streets of New York City, at which point he was contacted by Xavier's both for safety and a sort of rehabilitation - he had grown wild on the streets, and was considered a potential danger if he wasn't given discipline and care.
It has settled him a bit, but the leash never quite stops chafing, and he's forever acting out in petty (albeit dangerous) ways to show his rebellion. Combined with a very deep schism in beliefs between himself and the pacifist vision on which the school was based, that old temper makes him a loose cannon of a student and ripe for the plucking by anyone who has heard of or is involved in the movement against Xavier's X-Men program.

Canon: The World Ends With You
Status: Student, 15
Power: Telekinesis and a little bit of telepathy. Not enough to really listen but he can pick up on surface thoughts if he concentrates. Potentially could use the ability to generate bolts of psychic force but for now still is limited to just throwing things around.
Bio: Brought up in a fairly well-off but distant family, Neku's never really wanted for anything other than the ability to connect to people. His awakening was fairly violent but limited to damage in his own home, and he even had the benefit of an understanding friend who, while not a mutant (as far as he knows), was supportive.
Unfortunately his friend died in a car crash six months after Neku's mutation manifested, leaving Neku's personality somewhat twisted into anger and isolation. He started getting into fights - a lot of fights, where he displayed his power because he didn't care if people hated him. His parents grew increasingly angry, and Neku finally caught word of Xavier's. He didn't quite run away - he has parental consent to be there - but it's not clear that his family really wants him to return unless he can stop being 'strange'.
While he's not of the opinion that humans are any sort of lesser species or that mutants are superior, he's got a lot of anger and potential to fall on either side of the spectrum.

Canon: The God Eaters
Status: Student, 17
Power: Ghoul Witch/Puppetmaster. (I'm going to combine one of his canon abilities with his Asgard power, so he has something to train with!) Kieran can grab ahold of the threads of life, snapping them to weaken or kill his target. At the institute, he's been told that his power doesn't have to kill -- if he can take hold of those threads more carefully, maybe he could use them to disable or puppet instead. As his control grows he'll be able to do so.
Bio: Parallel to his original canon! Kieran grew up on the Rez, where his ability manifested at a young age. His first kill was by not-quite-accident, at age 8. Poor even by reservation standards with an alcoholic prostitute mother, Kieran was skinny and small and bullied terribly. One day he'd had enough... although he didn't consciously choose to kill the leader of the little schoolyard gang that beat him bloody, he wished the boy dead with all of the hate he could muster.
And three days later the perfectly healthy child was dead. He keeled over right at his desk while Kieran was glaring at him, and in that moment Kieran felt something snap. There was no apparent cause; the boy's heart just stopped. And the other children knew it was Kieran. They called him jinx, wrecker, ghoul witch, but they didn't cross him again. They made an effort not to cross his path at all, really, so Kieran never really had any friends. He was taken out of school not long after, and forced to 'work' ... that didn't last long, either. Too many deaths, the most significant being his mother's boss, the one who said that if he wasn't in school he couldn't live in the house for free. Then one day a proper gang -- high level dealers from the city -- passed through the brothel and heard rumors of Kieran's ability. More to the point, the boss believed them. He offered Kieran's mother five grand and Kieran a way out. Both deals were taken, and at age 13 the kid became a hit man.
After killing two associates without an order, the frustrated leader got Kieran hooked on heroin to make him more compliant. It worked great, until he was ordered a target that he really didn't want to kill. The rival that took him in and helped him get clean, and at 16 and lovesick with his newly restored free will, Kieran decided to switch teams. This went about as well as you'd expect. One dead boyfriend with a bullet through his head and a dozen thread-snapped gangsters later, Kieran was on the run. Xavier picked him up in a shelter three states over, his power a distinct threat to everyone around him that he was struggling to control.
At this point Kieran has far more control over the killing part of his ability, but has only just been told it might have less fatal applications. He's hesitant to train because. Well. While puppeting he might snap a thread and it's hard to trust anyone at all, let alone Xavier to rein him in. He's very tall and slim, a dirty fighter with a short temper and wit so sharp you might get cut on it. He keeps to himself for the most part, grateful for the place to live and regular meals, but has no particular loyalties.

Canon:Unclean Legacy
Status: student, 17.
Power: Shapeshifting. Sophie's shapeshifting ability is pretty extreme - she can change her form, completely or partially, into just about anything she can visualize, be it animal, vegetable, mineral, or all three in combination. However, this comes at the price of continuously having to hold any shape at all--if she becomes too distracted or is knocked unconscious and can't hold her own shape, things can get very unfortunate very quickly. Her emotions, unsurprisingly, affect her shifting, and her instincts definitely tend toward self-preservation by any means.
Bio: Sophie is a twin and one of seven children, and all but her eldest sister are mutants. Sophie's abilities manifested early, but her twin sister's did not, leading to a jealous rift between them that quickly turned violent and irreparable. The Gargamels are, on the whole, sort of prone to that.
Raised in England by their father, a wealthy and accomplished surgeon with ties to the royal family, the Gargamel children have a shiny, pointed veneer of manners, culture, and good breeding over dark, squishy centers that are anything but sweet and cuddly. This may have something to do with the fact that their father became the successful, groundbreaking surgeon that he was by killing a lot of people in a lot of awful ways. The trial was enormous, the children were separated, and whatever involvement they may have had in their father's 'work' was permanently sealed away in court records. Sophie and her brother Francescu, who featured most prominently in said sealed records, were shipped off to live with an uncle in the States. He turned out to be not much better than their father, and after he ended up very nearly dead when Sophie lost control of her abilities in a fit of (rather justified) rage, Xavier ended up stepping in and taking the Gargamels in.
Sophie is a tough nut to crack. She tends to hold herself apart, observing instead of becoming involved, and while trouble often comes to her, she doesn't seek it out.

Power: Technopath. She's still learning to use it but can interact with technology in a number of ways... understanding how machinery and electronics work and being able to repair them/convince them to repair themselves. She also invents her own gadgets (of varying tech levels and complexity) and is a scary badass hacker.
Bio: Also parallel to her canon! Orphaned at a young age, Claudia was raised by her older brother until he got himself sucked into a pocket dimension (think Evolution's Middleverse!) and she was on her own, bouncing around foster homes and becoming more and more obsessed with getting her brother back. Her insistence that her brother was still alive in another dimension and visiting her begging for help? Sounded pretty crazy to her handlers, who eventually gave up finding foster families willing to deal with her and dumped her in a psychiatric hospital at 14. Whoops.
Luckily for Claudia, her abilities had already manifested during puberty so all she needed was a few minutes in the nurses' station to wipe the facility's record of herself and open enough doors for to slip out. She was then very lazily on the run, creating a fake parent identity to rent an apartment while she worked on replicating her brother's experiment, breaking into his pocket dimension to save him. It was during this project that she popped up on Xavier's radar, and the school's recruitment team arrived just as her brother (Joshua, now free of his pocket dimension) helped her shut the portal down. She hadn't thought ahead on how to close it. Discussion happened, during which it was decided that Claudia needed some guidance with her mutation and the chance to socialize that she'd missed out on in her teen years, and that fall she left for the institute and Joshua went to work at Cern.
Like most supergeniuses, Claudia is eccentric. She can get absorbed in her work to the point of obsession and the disregard of everything else, and since she's never had much of a social life being at the institute is somewhat overwhelming. Used to being on her own and forsaking the "rules" for what she thinks is right, she could use some guidance in general decision-making. She's also fiercely loyal, so the side she falls on will be heavily influenced by where her friends wind up.

Canon: Original character
Status: Teacher, 20, English/Physical Training
Power: Regeneration - not anywhere near as strong as Wolverine's, giving her a regular lifespan and the ability to be killed by a severe enough wound, but she does not get sick and can recover from all non life-threatening injuries without treatment or scar, as well as regrow small limbs such as fingers and toes.
Bio: Dulcie grew up as something of an anomaly among her peers; she was fiercely athletic and competitive, joining every team sport that would have her despite her small build, but also adored fiction and would disappear into a book whenever she didn't need to be training. She never pursued writing, as she felt that the best stories had already been told and preferred to enjoy them rather than create her own, but she read voraciously and often spent her time creating a rich inner world full of fantasy beings and humans the likes of which could never exist.
Aside from mutants, whom she admired far more than feared and wished she could join the way some children wished they would get their Hogwarts letters.
When her mutation appeared, her parents told her to keep it silent, as it would give her a leg up in her athletic pursuits if she could use it subtly enough to rise above the others. This kind of dishonesty rankled her, but coaches were equally willing to use her, until in the end it backfired; a broken leg that healed far too quickly gave her away in her freshman year of college, and with much stricter rules in place, she was expelled under a liberal reading of the banned substances rule, which effectively blacklisted her in the world of athletics. That was when Xavier's approached her to teach for them, and she has been thankful and incredibly happy in her once only imagined world of mutants ever since.
Happy, but not soft. She is a very strict English teacher, allowing her students no room to cheat or coast the way she was forced to do throughout the better part of her brief athletic career, but will often show unexpected warmth to those who genuinely try, particularly those who do so despite struggling with the subject matter. With the older students, those preparing for the X-Men, she is equally strict: she is the forever underestimated physical trainer who leaves them feeling hit by a truck and begging for the session to end. Her loyalties lie fiercely with the school and the X-Men, because she has seen how people will manipulate those with mutations to their own benefit, and does not believe that stops at humans; any militant force against humankind would use just as much manipulation and aggrandisement of its recruits, while peaceful resolution would allow everyone to live freely and honestly without room for abusing those with mutant abilities.

Power: Impel - he can play on a person's deepest desires to manipulate them into complying to anything he says. Resistance to fire.
Bio: From a humble family somewhere in Eastern Europe, settled in a small town where religion was their number one characteristic. Petre was never really one of them, though, always ambitious for whatever was out there and more than ready to question the teachings of this precious God.
Born with a subtle power, people just always thought Petre was incredibly charming, despite his faults. Too ready to mock, too ready to defy, he still somehow got away with the trouble he caused with little to no consequences. He wasn't pinpointed as a mutant until the great fire in the Church that killed four people - his closest family - and injured many more. He was found, unconscious, next to people burnt to a crisp, but his skin was completely unscathed. The only damage he suffered were a couple of broken bones and partial amnesia.
After being tested, he was shipped off to Xavier's. He doesn't seem to remember - or care - much about the majority of his past or family, and likes to play around with his other power to impel people and see how far he can stretch those boundaries. Otherwise he's perfectly friendly and willing to engage in any fun conversation, so long as you agree to break a rule or two under the faculty's nose.

Canon: Original Character
Status: Student, 9.
Power: Precognition. Being so young, her predictions are often small and insignificant (like what's for lunch) with only rare occurrences of life changing events. There's a range and she has little control over which end they come in on. On the small and more frequent end, visions come to her like flashes of images popping it her head with little context. She would describe this as "I just knew." With the bigger predictions, she may seem to zone out with the vision playing out in a dream-like trance where she can watch the event play out.
Bio: Meadow was born into a small seemingly-happy family unit. Up until age 7 things went as expected, until she started pointing out small things that would happen with increasing frequency. Her peers found it annoying, her teachers thought she might be cheating, and her parents found it disturbing. Her parents finally couldn't handle it anymore after she predicted her father getting fired and their following divorce at the same time. They considered her mutation a bad omen. Xavier personally convinced them to send her to the school.
Meadow's fairly shy and often doesn't speak up unless spoken to. She often tries to do things on her own and won't ask for help right away with anything, not wanting to bother to anyone. She'll sit in the back of the class and not raise her hand despite knowing answers because of previous experience. She'll actively seek out anything that comes to her and may try to interfere, concerned it'll turn out negative.

Canon: Karas
Status: Teacher, 25. 'Weapons'.
Power: Pain resistance, super speed
Bio: His 'primary' mutation was less a mutation than a condition - he was unable to feel pain since he was born. His father led a yakuza group and saw his potential - an assassin that never stopped fighting, even if he was hurt? Excellent. Otoha was raised at a young age to think of himself as sub-human, a freak, and worthless. He was given a blade as soon as he could hold one and sent to attack the group's rivals.
Fast forward a number of years and Otoha grew into a young man with serious issues regarding life and death. Never one to care about his own safety, he charged into battle and killed whomever he was told to. Until the day that his father had his best friend killed, Otoha served without question - but the day of the incident something snapped. He killed his father and fled the country, using the funds he had stolen from the group to fly to America.
He ran into the X-Men while trying to find somewhere to stay in New York, and they quickly figured out that he was a mutant. It was kind of hard when he kept walking after all of those injuries. They brought him back to the school, and while he's too old to be a student they set him to teach weapons while they try to… adjust him. He's not a people person at all and he still has no problems threatening people if he feels he needs to.

Status: Student, 16
Power: Necrotic touch. Anyone or anything organic that she touches with her bare hands starts to decay and die. People without any kind of resistances (aka humans) die almost instantly, and for those who aren't human it takes longer and more prolonged contact.
Bio: A somewhat bitter girl who was born into a family of mutants and grew up knowing what mutants were. There was another mutant family near her, but they didn't interact too much. Everyone in her family has similar mutations to varying degrees, and so she knew she was going to go to Xavier's as soon as her mutation manifested. She grew up knowing she was different, and that she had to be separate from other people, though she's never liked it.
Her inability to touch anyone directly has cut short some of her dreams, but she's still looking for a new one. She's feisty and doesn't take anyone's shit, but she's not really one to start fights - but she'll finish it if she ends up in one.

Canon: Amazing Spider-man
Status: Student, 17
Power: Energy Drain. He absorbs energy from people and things. It's a constantly active power at a harmless level to others - but it causes him to have highs and lows in health. Over time or if he concentrates, people get physically weaker or suffer extreme fatigue around him while he gains their strength and stamina.
Bio: Harry is heir to a multi-billion dollar science company, at a glance he reads spoiled brat. Well-groomed, well-dressed, and the definition of playboy. He's only ever had one friend that's known him past that. His mother died while giving birth to him and his father is a mostly unreachable figure. Things went pretty much as expected until the powers manifested at age 11. His father, who already suffers poor health, had zero issues sending the his son elsewhere. Harry's been in one boarding school in Europe prior for several years. He did basically what anyone expects a rich kid to start doing ...which is dive off the deep end into sex and drugs and alcohol.
This, of course, mixed with a power that borrows health off of others is bad for everyone involved. Intimacy provides the quickest bounce back to health - easiest way to use his ability and the other two are a good way to need it again. A cycle of addiction. Following an incident where the entire school suffered extremely poor health after a night at a party, he transferred out to Xavier's after being discovered by him in the hopes of controlling it.

Canon: Kamen Rider Gaim
Status: Student, 16
Power: Emotion Inducement/Emotional Vampirism. He can poke someone's mind and induce a low level of an emotion - any emotion. Fear, paranoia, and trust are his favorites. He can also sustain himself on the emotions of people around him, which is the only way he can lower the emotional level of someone else. He can eat normal food, but he doesn't have to if he's 'fed' on a strong emotion recently.
Bio: Mitsuzane has led a double life up to this point. He's the son and brother of some very high ranking technology company executives in Japan, but prefers to spend his time with his friends who are the 99% to his 1%. He will do anything to protect the people he cares about, even if he has to turn his back on people who thought he cared about them.
Even still, he's a cruel and calculating person when he has to be. He doesn't hesitate to lie if it suits him, and once his mutation manifested he was sent to Xavier's. He keeps up the appearance of a model student, but if he does get confronted by someone about anything he doesn't hesitate to use his powers or simply bluff his way out of it.

Canon: Original
Status: Student, 16
Power: Paresthesia - (an abnormal or inappropriate sensation in an organ, part, or area of the skin, as of burning, prickling, tingling, etc). She can cause illusory physical sensations on others, be it ecstasy or violent pain. No physical contact needed, just her mind.
Bio: Born into an ultra-religious household, Jewell's never adhered to her parent's teachings from early on. She was never a good girl; always defiant, always resentful, and her parents eventually gave up on her for that. She was left to be handled by nuns and priests in school during the day, left to her own devices afterwards, hardly ever making any friends.
She'd hit puberty when her power manifested, almost exclusively when she was angry. Her parents seemed to fall violently ill whenever she got upset, but doctors were never able to determine what was wrong. They considered their daughter possessed by a demon and were ready to perform extreme procedures on her when Xavier's interfered and explained to them that their daughter was not a monster. They politely disagreed but were relieved to see her go.
Bleached hair and a potty mouth, Jewell was brought in to the school believing her parents abandoned her. She's fared relatively well in the school, able to control her power and enthusiastic about managing new skills and kicking ass. She is the first one to volunteer to a mission, but don't expect her to get along with any of the other students. She'd rather work solo.
