[ this is absolutely terrible behavior. terrible. what purpose could that solve? but she was already following the doorknob thread... so she has to see how it goes. petre seems happy with it. that's a good thing. maybe she was just supposed to do something fun with him today.

meadow looks down again, trying to think of someone ]

Hmmm. You can pick who.

Golly, little ol' me?

[he brings both hands up to his chest, arching his brows. He really looks like he's talking to a kid - and he sounds like he's good at it, too. He's really just terrible, though.]

Do I really need to say who, though?

[C'mon. Of course John's always going to be his target.

He's smiling conspiratorially.]

[ she shakes her head. she already knows. it's some sort of game with them, isn't it? she doesn't know john all too well but it's a little hard not to hear about these two doing things and getting in trouble for it. it seems like a fun game.

and petre's so nice! people must be overreacting to how troublesome the things are. if there's any real trouble being made john's probably the one that does it. she predicted him burning a couch today, after all. ]

We should get more then. [ more doorknobs ] So it's funnier. [ she wants to be included in this prank war so it has to be better ]

I should get you a prize for this, if you do it right.

You can keep watch.

[ she beams at him then leads the way to another door so she can steal the handle off it, unscrewing it. this is a good idea. good pranks. it's going to be so funny. ]

What sort of prize?

[he stands by her, does as he's told, watching both sides of the corridor every now and then to make sure no one's coming. It's a slow time at the school right now, so they've got very little to worry about.]

What kind of prize do you want?

Hmn. [ she looks over at him then back at what she's doing, carefully pulling the knob free from the door after taking the screws out ]

A favor.

A favor. Smart.

[Which means you get points, Meadow. And he fully expects her to come up with something along the lines of holding hands.]

You got it.

[precognition]

I thought so.

[ favors are the best thing to ask for because then she can ask for anything later, pretty much. it's like a reign-check. she's trying to think of something good ....because outright asking for hand holding is so embarrassing! how can she work that into something else?

she hands him the knob before happily moving along again. ]

Some people don't like owing favors, I heard.

[And now he has two doorknobs in his hands. What a day.]

Then they're weak. Me, I'll do anything, as long as it's worth it.

So, you gonna make it worth my while?

[precognition]

[ here is a third. how are they going to carry these? ]

I wouldn't want to waste your time.

[Don't worry about it, Meadow. He can get them a basket later.]

Aw. I wouldn't want that either.

[Is he even being mean? It's hard to tell, but his tone sounds kind enough.]

Thinking about that favor?

[precognition]

[ she's not reading it as mean. four doorknobs for you. ]

All I can think of is silly. [ sheepishly. she pauses then adds ] And something about slashed tires. [ ????? ]

[broil]

[carrying them in his arms now.]

Slashed tires. How criminal of you. Unless you want me to go to jail.

[precognition]

I don't want you to go to jail! ...That's not a favor. That's unrelated. Nevermind.

[ muttering it out quickly. if anyone is getting blamed for going into the garage and slashing scott summers' bike tires later, you're looking at the actual culprit. she really needs to stop following this stuff through... ]

You're going to think my favors are stupid right now unless I think of a better one.

[broil]

And now you're keeping secrets from me?

[he arches his brows at her, eyes otherwise lazy. Meadow, you'll break his heart.]

I thought we were good friends.

[precognition]

It's not a secret. I haven't done anything yet.

[ frowning at him. oh no don't be upset she'll tell you ]

[broil]

Well, fine.

[and after a pause-]

I could always just help you improve on those ideas.

[precognition]

[ doubting. it's really not a secret right? right? right?

she's turning to face him, stopping what she's doing for a moment ]

I might need a little help with them. [ they all INVOLVE HOLDING HANDS so so dumb ]

So go head. I'll give you my brightest, bestest input.
